DAY 2, Wednesday - Arrive in Catania
Benvenuti! Arrive on the island of Sicily, rich in history, culture, and tradition. Transfer to your hotel in Catania. The remainder of the day is at leisure to start exploring one of Sicily's most important cities. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 6 PM, followed by a reception. We recommend you to select flights that arrive no later than 4 PM

DAY 3, Thursday - Catania City Tour, Optional Taormina Tour
Begin the day with a walking tour of Catania, a combination of ancient and modern, under the shadow of Mt. Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe. After the city was destroyed in the 17th century, the old part of the city was rebuilt in Baroque style with large wide-open squares. The afternoon is at leisure to discover Catania on your own. Or, take the optional tour to the old-world resort city of Taormina, also known as the "Jewel of the Ionian Sea." The tour is highlighted by the city's celebrated archaeological monument, the Greek Theater

DAY 4, Friday - Full Day in Catania or Optional Syracuse Tour
Spend the day at leisure in Catania, or join the optional tour to Syracuse. Here, step back in time to the bygone era of Greek Sicily and explore the birthplace of Archimedes. Visit Neapolis Archaeological Park, the Greek Theater, the remains of Roman Amphitheater, and the "Ear of Dionysius," an awe-inspiring artificial limestone cave renowned for its outstanding acoustics. Then, admire its old quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located on the island of Ortygia before returning to Catania

DAY 5, Saturday - Full Day in Catania or Optional Mt. Etna with Lunch
Spend the day at leisure in Catania, or join the optional tour of Mt. Etna with lunch. Visit the lava-crusted slopes of Mt. Etna, which dominates the scenery. Standing 11,000 feet above sea level at its peak, it's the most active volcano in Europe. Ascend the Mount to reach the Silvestri Craters at 6,200 feet and step carefully on the varied layers of lava which have solidified over the centuries. Learn about Etna's impact on the surrounding area and its unique geology. On your way back, stop at a local farm for lunch before returning to Catania

DAY 6, Sunday - Valley of Temples
This morning, drive to Agrigento to discover the impressive Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This splendid archaeological park is the largest in the world with the best-preserved temple ruins outside of mainland Greece. Savor lunch featuring the area's local delicacies before continuing to Marsala. Check into your hotel in the late afternoon

DAY 7, Monday - Marsala Walking Tour, Optional Motya Tour
Begin the day with an orientation walking tour of Marsala, an ancient walled city built on the ruins of two Punic cities, Lilybaeum and Mozia. Conquered by the Romans, then annexed to the Byzantine Empire, Marsala became wealthy primarily through trade and is famous for its productions of Marsala wine since the 1800s. The afternoon is free or embark on the optional tour to Motya. Take a short drive to the salt pans area before boarding your boat to cruise on the Stagnone Lagoon to the island of Motya. Learn about this Phoenician merchant trading outpost and see the beautiful marble statue of the Motya Charioteer, a Greek influenced masterpiece dating back to the 5th century BC, found inside Phoenician fortifications

DAY 8, Tuesday - Full Day in Marsala or Optional Erice Tour
Spend the day at leisure in Marsala, or take the morning optional tour to Erice. Drive the winding roads to the mountaintop of Erice, a wonderfully preserved medieval town with breathtaking views and a rich historical presence. Walk along the cobbled streets lined with superb examples of Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture, before returning to Marsala. This evening, at dinner, bid farewell to your Tour Manager
