Taormina - Mt. Etna Winery Visit & Tasting - Light Lunch
This morning, youll meet one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Mt. Etna is in an almost constant state of eruption. But dont worry well keep a safe distance!
The fertile volcanic soil supports extensive agriculture, orchards, and vineyards. So, lets visit a local winery for a tour, a wine tasting and a light lunch!
Tonight, you can enjoy dinner on your own. Have you tried pesce spada yet? Swordfish is Sicilys favorite seafood.
Taormina Godfather Tour
This morning youll depart for the must-see Sicilian Mountain villages that have become world known thanks to F.F. Coppola, who filmed the legendary "The Godfather" here. You will reach Savoca, a medieval town hidden in the mountains.
Your first point will be the world-famous Bar Vitelli, where Michael Corleone asked Apollonia's father for her hand in marriage. Here lunch will be served so you can taste different types of excellent Sicilian wines accompanied by traditional food of the island.
Youll get to see the church on the hill in Savoca where Michael Corleone married in the Godfather.
Even today, life goes on in a typically piano, piano Sicilian way not too fast. Savoca, unlike inland Corleone, looks to the Ionian Sea from its lofty perch, a pretty village surrounded by sun-blasted hillsides and the occasional old stone farmhouse.
You will continue the tour in Forza D'Agro, another picturesque mountain town that also has become the place for the scenes of the Godfather. You will explore the historic square, the ancient monastery and churches, walk the abandoned streets, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Sicilian villages that was here some hundreds of years ago.

Taormina - Cefalù - Palermo - Dinner Out
Today, youre off to Palermo, stopping along the way for a fascinating visit of Cefalù, a coastal town in Northern Sicily. Enjoy a guided visit of the famous Norman cathedral, a 12th century fortress-like structure with elaborate Byzantine mosaics and soaring twin towers. The Cathedral has a founding legend: Normal King Roger II made a vow to God during a dangerous sailing trip from Southern Italy. His life was in great danger and he promised to build a wonderful church in the place where he would have landed, if he survived. Roger did in fact survive, disembarked in Cefalù and kept his promise and built a cathedral there.
Youll have some free time to walk around this charming town, shop and have lunch on your own before heading to Palermo.

Palermo - City Tour
Today you will enjoy a city tour of Palermo which will start with a visit to the Cathedral, built on the ruins of the largest mosque, which houses the relics of Rosalia, patron saint of Palermo. Then youll walk through Ballarò, one of the oldest street markets in Sicily, taking in an explosion of colors and scents of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. Vendors shout very loudin Sicilian dialectto attract people and to promote their specialties. This will be the best way to experience the unique atmosphere of daily life in Sicily. Youll get to try Panelle, which are a very popular Sicilian street food made from chickpea flour, along with some other Sicilian delicacies.
After visiting the market, youll see the grandiose Fontana Pretoria, and your walk will end at the Theater of the Sun, also known as The Quattro Canti, the heart of the old city.
This afternoon youll be free to enjoy as you please! Explore this beautiful city and perhaps stop for an aperol spritz.
Tonight, enjoy dinner on your own. Be sure to end your dinner with a delicious dessert that originated in Palermo: The Cassata Siciliana.
Palermo - Trapani - Marsala - Saline Ettore Infersa - Wine Tasting - Dinner Out
This morning, youll depart from your hotel and head to Trapani, a picturesque city located on the western coast of Sicily, Italy, renowned for its stunning natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant cultural heritage.
This crescent shaped city, with almost 2300 years of history, is also renowned for its historic salt beds, an integral part of the regions culture and economy. These salt pans, known locally as "saline," stretch along the coastline between Trapani and Marsala, forming a unique landscape of shallow basins and dikes that have been used for salt production since ancient times.
Youll visit the historic center, embellished with baroque churches and noble palaces. Youll see the church of Purgatory which houses 20 groups of statues, called "MYSTERI", carried in a procession every year on Good Friday.
Youll have some free time to visit coral, ceramic and other shops with typical local products.
This afternoon youll depart for the Salina Ettore Infersa, where youll see a 16th century mill and learn about the history and method of sea salt production, introduced by the Phoenicians almost 2800 years ago.
Next, youll depart for Marsala, a charming coastal town perhaps best known for its production of Marsala wine, a fortified wine that has been produced in the region since the 18th century. Youll visit the historic center, which still preserves the remains of the first Punic city, but also the Arab layout, with narrow and winding streets. There is no shortage of baroque churches, such as the Cathedral of San Tomaso Becket or the Church of Purgatory. The city brings memories of Garibaldi's landing in 1860, such as Porta Garibaldi, the Monument of the Thousand, various gravestones or statues.
Next, youll enjoy a tasting of Marsala wines; youll sample a variety of wines, from sweet and luscious to dry and robust. After an enriching wine tasting experience, youll enjoy an early dinner. After dinner, youll return to your hotel in Palermo.
